South Carolina based Marvin Evatt (pronounced Eh*vit) is an independent musician who has played over 300 shows around the country, has opened for or toured with Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift, Alan Jackson, Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town, and Miranda Lambert among others, has performed on CMT and the Grand Ole Opry (52 times!), and was a 2008 Academy of Country Music nominee for Top New Vocal Duo or Group with Carolina Rain.
After all the excitement during his time in Nashville, his love of family and close friends led him back home to upstate South Carolina in 2013. Always a dream of his, he purchased a houseboat on Lake Keowee that needed some TLC. After many hours of restoration, Marvin’s labor of love was featured in Houseboat Magazine in late 2018. His love of boats, the outdoors, and water inspired him to compose new music that captured the easygoing lifestyle of the “Lake Life,” one of the new featured songs on his solo debut EP, “Songs from the Boat.”
Think of Jimmy Buffet and Kenny Chesney hanging out by the water – that’s the vibe of Marvin’s new music. With songs that range from the “Bow of this Boat” that reflect the slower pace of life on the water, to the good-times atmosphere of “Who Needs Mexico?” that wonders why we’ve got to go anywhere else when “I’ve got it all right here,” Marvin’s solo debut will surely have you puttin’ on the sunblock and loadin’ up the cooler for a good time.
